1. Grey Card
2. Memory cards
3. Better camera bag (the one I have is not so comfortable afterall)
4. Battery
5. Remote (I lost mine, thing is so small it's easy to lose)
My number 6 is a macro lens or filter. I remember a few of you writing about it. Jenna mentioned the filter cause it does the same and it's very inexpensive? Can some of you tell me more about what macro does? And what would you think, filter or lens?
Also, are there things that would be great to get that I didn't mention? Of course lots of things, but if you wanted to buy something, what would it be? What would you suggest to me?
My equipment so far:
Nikon D80
AF-S Nikkor Lens 18-200 mm 3.5-5.6
UV filter (of course but before every one starts telling me I need one)
Grip
Manfrotto Tripot with movable head
Speed Flash
wow! i have no idea, but i'm going to come back to your page and read what the other folks have to say on macro v. lens. i have a macro - it's new, so i haven't done much with it yet. still, i'd be curious what the others have to say on it.
ReplyDeleteI would also love to hear more on the macro v. filter issue. A friend of mine has a macro lens and he says he doesn't use it as much as he thought he would. I love what they can do, but it definitely depends on what you are going to be photographing. I recently got a Crumpler bag and I recommend it. Very roomy and sturdy and doesn't scream "there's a camera in here!" Although it has a velcro closing, which is loud if you photograph weddings/events. It is good for me and great for transporting. I would love a shootsac if I had tons of money and might try to figure out how to make my own version for portrait sessions. I hope that helped a little!
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly building up my gear at the moment too! I'm also thinking about getting a macro lens so I would love to hear what others have to say about it. As for more general photography equipment - I would suggest stocking up on the basics, such as:
ReplyDelete- several large memory cards
- extra batteries
- a fixed lens like a 50mm or 35mm?
And that's all that I can think of right now ..
