Self Portraits

Read yesterday's post. The photos below were taken yesterday as well. Here are some self portraits I was able to throw in. All SOOC again. See me?

Nan

Although today is a National Holiday for us, I did have class. And I enjoyed it. We were given an assignment during class today. We each had 10 to 15 minutes to take a group photo. Of course I couldn't resist taking photos when it wasn't my turn. I was taking photos of Nan when she was busy positioning every one. Quite the fun! They are all SOOC.

One item - Tens ways

I had to photograph one item in ten different ways. An item that interests you, an item that fascinates you. I love this cross, it's showed off in my living room, a perfect item to walk around with for this assignment for class. You might recognize the item from my very first photo taken for class when I started at the Photo Academy.

I had to come up with ten different photos by using light, being creative with Photoshop, playing with depth of field and so forth.

A great series for Pentacost, which we celebrate this weekend, and in Holland it's also celebrated today.

Light

I am totally taken by light these last couple of months. It all started when I had an assignment to take night photos for school. Ever since I have played with existing light. It can be as simple as this.

Macro Photography Workshop

I had my Marco Photography workshop past Saturday. I did not regret taking part! It was fun and I learned a lot, and not just about Photography. It was Johannes' first workshop, not that I noticed though. He had knowledge about photography, the location and our subject, it was impressive. I was excited to get out with my Macro, and our subject, the dragon fly, was so interesting. That interesting that taking photos wasn't my priority anymore. Still, I do have some results to show you.

Funny is that every one had photos of a dragonfly that just emerged out of the larva, with it's wings wide open. Me on the other hand just stayed with this one dragonfly emerging.

I really wanted to find my own dragonfly to photograph instead of the one that Johannes would point out to me. They are not easy to find but once you know what to look for you will see them more and more. I found this larva and it looked different, when I took a closer look I saw that the dragonfly was about the come out. I couldn't help but to stay with this one and follow the entire process.

Patience is everything with macro but since dragonflies who just emerged can't fly yet, our patience wasn't tested to the fullest. I learned that composition is very important and time consuming. Even in nature there is a lot you can do to get the right composition, adding a little grass here and there. I know I would want to take part in a follow up workshop for then I could really focus on photography and composition and be less fascinated with the dragonflies' process.

I am still enjoying these little ones around the house. They've opened their eyes now and are moving around a bit more, though still very shaky. Here's one of the cuties.
